Moodle 2 and IMS LTI
In the past month I added two blog posts to http://www.somerandomthoughts.com about IMS LTI.
The first discussed the new external tool activity that is available in Moodle 2.2, which enables Moodle to connect to a 3rd party IMS LTI compliant activity/site such as a suitably configured wordpress MU or mediawiki. This post is available here http://www.somerandomthoughts.com/blog/2011/11/28/moodle-2-supports-connecting-to-ims-lti-tools/ This post also provided some background and other examples of IMS LTI.
The second post was about a new module for Moodle 2 developed by Juan Leyva, a very active developer from Spain. This module enables Moodle to provide access to an activity or a full course from other systems (either Moodle 2.2+ sites using the External Tool capability, or Sakai and other LTI compliant systems which can connect to LTI tools/providers). The blog post also dicusses some uses for the IMS LTI for academic and industry. This post is available
If you have not looked at IMS LTI yet, I strongly recommend you do. This is a serious game changer.
